Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from our team will greet you and escort you to your hotel. After some time to rest and freshen up, we’ll meet for a comprehensive trek briefing, covering the itinerary, safety precautions, and gear check. In the evening, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner with authentic Nepali cuisine and cultural performances. Kathmandu’s rich heritage and charm offer the perfect start to your Himalayan journey.
We start our journey with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Machha Khola, traveling along winding roads that pass through picturesque hills, terraced fields, and riverside villages. The journey takes 7-9 hours, gradually revealing the rural beauty of Nepal. Machha Khola, a tranquil riverside settlement, marks the start of our trekking adventure.
The trek begins along the Budhi Gandaki River, taking us through dense forests, narrow gorges, and traditional Magar and Gurung villages. We’ll cross several suspension bridges and walk along undulating terrain before reaching Jagat, a historically significant village and entry point to the Tsum Valley region. Jagat also marks the permit check-in area.
We continue upstream along the Budhi Gandaki, then diverge from the main Manaslu trail and climb toward Lokpa. The trail leads through subtropical forests, across rivers, and past Buddhist mani walls and chortens, indicating our entry into the culturally rich Tsum Valley. Lokpa is the first village in this sacred valley.
As we delve deeper into the Tsum Valley, the trail ascends through rhododendron and pine forests adorned with spiritual relics. We'll cross several wooden bridges and pass traditional houses with stone roofs before reaching Chumling. The village offers our first panoramic views of Ganesh Himal and a visit to Chumling Gompa enhances the spiritual atmosphere.
We trek across suspension bridges and through alpine forests, gradually gaining elevation. As we arrive at Chhokangparo, we are rewarded with spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal range. The village sits on a plateau and offers insight into Tibetan-influenced architecture and Buddhist culture.
We hike to Mu Gompa, the largest monastery in Tsum Valley, perched on a ridge with commanding views of the Ganesh and Sringi Himal ranges. From there, we continue to Dhephyudonma Gompa, a lesser-visited yet spiritually potent monastery. After absorbing the high-altitude serenity, we return to Nile for the night.
We begin our descent from Mu Gompa toward Rachen Gompa, a significant nunnery that plays a key role in Tsum Valley's spiritual life. This tranquil site offers a unique glimpse into the lives of Buddhist nuns and their daily rituals, surrounded by a serene landscape of chortens and prayer flags.
We continue trekking through pine forests and highland pastures to reach Gumba Lungdang, a remote monastery known for its tranquility and spiritual energy. Set against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks, this secluded gompa is a hidden gem, providing a peaceful rest point before tomorrow’s challenging hike.
An early start takes us on a challenging but exhilarating hike to Ganesh Himal Base Camp. The trail ascends through rugged terrain, offering close-up views of Ganesh Himal's icy giants. At base camp, we’ll rest, take in the pristine surroundings, and return to Gumba Lungdang by evening.
We retrace our steps through pine and rhododendron forests, descending back to Chumling. The views along the way offer a new perspective, and the return to lower altitudes brings comfort and a chance to reflect on the sacred experiences of the upper Tsum Valley.
We trek from Chumling back to Lokpa and then rejoin the main Manaslu Circuit route. Our journey continues to Deng, passing through dense forest, suspension bridges, and riverbanks. Deng is a small village with Tibetan roots and a peaceful rural ambiance.
Today’s trail offers dramatic gorge views, waterfalls, and glimpses of Himalayan wildlife. As we ascend through alpine forests and charming hamlets, we reach Namrung, a picturesque village known for its stone houses, local gompa, and stunning views of Manaslu and Himal Chuli.
We pass through Lihi and Sho villages, rich with mani walls and barley fields. The ascent to Shyala rewards us with panoramic views of Peak 29, Himal Chuli, and Manaslu. In Shyala, we’ll visit a local monastery and interact with the Tibetan-influenced community.
From Shyala, we climb through forested trails to Pungyen Gompa (4,450m / 14,596ft), a serene monastery nestled against the Manaslu massif. After visiting this sacred site, we descend to Samagaun, a culturally rich village known for its spectacular mountain backdrop and Ribung Gompa.
An early morning hike leads us to Manaslu Base Camp. The trail climbs steadily, rewarding us with breathtaking views of glaciers and Manaslu's massive south face. After enjoying breakfast at the base camp, we return to Samagaun, enriched by the day’s unforgettable scenery.
We continue ascending through alpine terrain to Dharamshala, the final stop before crossing Larkya La Pass. This high-altitude settlement offers majestic views and time to acclimatize. Rest well in preparation for tomorrow’s challenging trek.
We rise early to cross Larkya La Pass, one of the highest and most scenic passes in the Himalayas. The trail offers staggering views of Himlung, Cheo, and Annapurna II. After the rewarding summit, we descend along glacial moraines to the beautiful village of Bhimtang.
Descending further, we walk through lush forests of rhododendron and oak, passing streams and terraced fields. The air grows warmer as we reach Tilije, a Gurung village known for its hospitality and traditional stone architecture.
Our final trekking day takes us to Dharapani, from where we board a private vehicle for the drive back to Kathmandu. The scenic drive retraces the Marsyangdi River valley and hilly roads, returning you to the city’s comforts. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner to celebrate your incredible journey.
After breakfast, we will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. As you leave Nepal, you’ll carry with you lasting memories of the sacred Tsum Valley and the majestic Manaslu Circuit. We hope to see you again for another Himalayan adventure!
