Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek Itinerary
- Upon your arrival, a friendly representative from Places Nepal will warmly welcome you at Kathmandu International Airport. You'll be smoothly escorted to a comfortable star-category hotel in the vibrant Thamel district.
- In the afternoon, we'll gather for an engaging presentation session. This will be an opportunity to meet your dedicated trekking team, including your knowledgeable trekking guide and our experienced staff. They will provide you with a concise overview of the exciting Short Mardi Himal Trek that awaits.
- Your first night in Kathmandu will be spent in the cozy comforts of your hotel, ensuring you have a restful start to your adventure.
Our exciting vacation begins with a scenic bus ride from the bustling city of Kathmandu to the tranquil lakeside sanctuary of Pokhara. The beautiful green hills, terraced fields, and lovely towns line the scenic path across the Trishuli River will excite our senses as we travel through the Nepali countryside.
When we arrive in Pokhara, we'll check into our hotel and make sure we're rested and ready for the adventure that awaits us.
In the evening, we strongly advise you to immerse yourself in the exciting environment of the Lakeside neighborhood. You'll come across the enthralling Phewa Lake, whose peaceful waters mirror the spectacular, snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Enjoy the tastes of local food at one of the picturesque lakeside restaurants for a memorable gastronomic experience.
Our first night in Pokhara promises a relaxing stay at our hotel, and a delicious breakfast greets us in the morning as we ready to begin our trekking adventure.
Your tour starts with a relaxing morning excursion to Fewa Lake. After taking in the tranquil beauty, return to your hotel for a hearty breakfast. The day continues as we make our way to Phedi over the rough and dusty Baglung Highway. Although the travel isn't very long, the difficult terrain might make it seem so.
The Mardi Himal Trek begins when you arrive in Phedi and begin your trip towards Pothana. Local shops eager to offer their items will greet you in this charming community. Expect a difficult climb with frightening steps for approximately an hour and a half when you begin your journey. You'll stop by additional local stores along the route.
Continuing your journey, you'll pass through traditional villages and arrive at a gorgeous flat area where folks graze and picnic. You'll soon arrive at Dhampus, where you may have a well-deserved lunch break. As you descend a magnificent woodland route, brace yourself for increasingly tough terrain. Your adventure will take you through numerous landscapes till you arrive in Pothana.
When you arrive, check into your hotel and spend some time relaxing or exploring the gorgeous valley. Pothana, despite its lower height, may get fairly cold. The tiny tea rooms provide wonderful views of the lush green surrounds.
After a full breakfast, pack your belongings and head off on a rocky route going out of the settlement. The pathway progressively changes from rocky terrain to dirt and then to a less-defined woodland path. Keep a constant check on your surroundings because trail markings are scarce, and keeping with your group is recommended to prevent being disoriented.
The first hour of the walk consists of a rise followed by a detour until you reach Deurali. From here, you'll get spectacular views of Fewa Lake, the Pokhara Valley, and a couple of great mountains, including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
As you continue on your journey, you'll find yourself surrounded by deep trees, as your destination for the day is fittingly titled Forest Camp. The route winds through dense vegetation, offering a genuinely immersive experience.
The forest is home to several tree species, including birch, rhododendron, oak, hemlock, maple, and others. The trees' shade keeps you cool and rejuvenated, and the air is filled with the earthy, organic scent of the forest.
After about an hour, the terrain begins to steepen, posing a challenge to hikers. Continue your journey by traversing a ridge, descending halfway, and gradually gaining height until you reach Forest Camp.
Forest Camp greets you with a wide-open green expanse and a few pleasant lodging options for your stay. After checking into one of the tea houses, you can go outdoors and relax in the grass, totally immersed in the natural beauty that surrounds you.
As you make your journey from Forest Camp to High Camp, an early start sets the tone for the day. Following breakfast, your Mardi Himal Trek continues over a wooded trail that is noticeably more substantial than the terrain of the previous day.
The thick forest gives way to trees that are slightly more spaced out, as well as mosses and bushes. As you explore, you'll come across huge expanses filled with brilliant rhododendrons, lending a magical touch to the woodland.
Your trek will take you to Low Camp, a level and open landscape with unimpeded views of the spectacular Machhapuchhre, also known as Mount Fishtail. Among the gorgeous woodlands, this majestic mountain takes the show.
Some hikers halt at Low Camp, which provides a compelling backdrop for viewing dramatic sunrises and sunsets over the Annapurna range. However, our eventual target is High Camp, so it's time to start your journey after a full meal.
From here, the route becomes noticeably steeper, necessitating caution as you cross rough terrain that continues to rise. As you go, the scenery changes, with fewer trees and stony trails leading to High Camp.
High Camp, at an elevation of nearly 3,550 meters, may get rather cold. After checking in, seek comfort by the campfire area. The sunset vista from this vantage point is breathtaking.
Prepare for an early night's sleep since an interesting day is waiting.
A vigorous start to the day sets the tone for the last, exciting ascent of your eight-day Mardi Himal Trek. Your trek to the Mardi Himal Base Camp begins after a full breakfast.
The spectacular mountain views eventually give way to rough terrains as you go. You'll follow a steady, although rather vague, track along the ridge.
As you go gingerly up the less-traveled trail, the rise poses a modest challenge, neither too easy nor too demanding. It's critical to proceed with caution because there are countless dead ends along the path.
You continue your ascent along the routes toward the base camp, passing through a huge expanse scattered with stones. The awe-inspiring panoramas beneath the pure blue sky are the first sights that meet you.
This location offers breathtaking views of Annapurna Base Camp on one side and Machhapuchhre on the other. The ride to the base camp cements the Mardi Himal Trek as one of the greatest eight-day hikes you'll ever do.
After a well-earned lunch at base camp, you continue your trip back to High Camp. You'll spend the night in High Camp's comfortable lodgings after retracing your steps.
The travel from High Camp to Siding Village today is very simple and relaxed, letting you take in the natural splendor in your own time. Following a delicious breakfast, you will begin your return trek, retracing your way back to Low Camp.
The trek down to Siding Village is quite remarkable, winding through lovely towns and scenic rice terraces. The grandeur of unspoiled rural farming regions is shown in all its glory on the day's hike.
Following the route, you'll stop for a hearty meal and a refreshing rest at a lovely viewpoint. Continue your journey through beautiful green forests and fertile farmlands until you reach Siding Village.
For hikers with limited time, Siding Village serves as both a beginning and terminating place. From here, we'll take a nice shared jeep ride back to Pokhara via the Baglung route.
We recommend seeing Davis Falls, Gupteshwar Cave, and the Tibetan Refugee Camp while in Pokhara. Relax at the end of the day with a peaceful boat trip on Phewa Lake. We'll stay in a Pokhara guesthouse and have breakfast and lunch there.
After breakfast, we'll board a comfy tourist bus returning to Kathmandu. Enjoy the last sights of the gorgeous countryside before returning to the bustling capital city as we travel through it.
You'll have plenty of time to see Kathmandu's colorful Thamel neighborhood if you arrive in the afternoon. You have the option of going souvenir shopping, sampling local street food, or simply relaxing in the luxury of your hotel room.
Your final night in Kathmandu will be spent resting up before a delicious breakfast awaits you the next morning.
Note: If you choose to fly back to Kathmandu, you will incur additional fees, which will be invoiced individually in your overall cost. You may also end your trip in Pokhara and participate in other thrilling programs such as the Pokhara excursion, Lumbini Tour, Chitwan Jungle Safari, and others.
As your journey in Nepal comes to an end, a representative from Places Nepal will guide you from your hotel to the International Airport, ensuring a smooth departure. We hope your visit has been filled with unforgettable memories and experiences, and we look forward to welcoming you back for future adventures.

This adventure usually commences in Pokhara, known as the gateway to the Annapurna Base Camp. Since Mardi Himal lies within the Annapurna Himalayan range, reaching Pokhara is the starting point for your Mardi Himal journey.
Discovering the Mardi Himal Trek Difficulty
Mardi Himal is considered a moderate trek that can be completed in about 4-5 days from Pokhara. However, for beginners, this may be a bit challenging and demanding. If your fitness level is average, a more comfortable 8-9 day trek is recommended. In truth, the difficulty of the Mardi Himal Trek depends on the number of days you wish to allocate to this adventure via the Pokhara route.
Exploring the Mardi Himal Trekking Route
The Mardi Himal Trek begins in Pokhara and leads you to Kade or Phedi, which is just a 40-minute drive from Pokhara. As you ascend to the Australian Camp, you can savor lunch while gazing at majestic Himalayan views and the distant city. Continuing through the forest, you'll reach Pothana, a charming village with welcoming hotels and lodges.
Pothana serves as the entry point to the Annapurna Conservation Area, where you'll need to validate your permits before heading to Pitam Deurali. Pitam Deurali is a favored overnight stop for trekkers. You'll then proceed to Forest Camp and Low Camp, passing through alpine, oak, and rhododendron forests for your overnight stay.
The following day, you'll hike uphill, rewarded with splendid Himalayan views, farmlands, valleys, and more, until you reach High Camp. High Camp marks your last overnight stop on the Mardi Himal Trek.
