Places Nepal's Social Initiative

As a trek & tour operator in the Himalayas, Places Nepal believes "Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)" should be an integral part of our business model. As a youth-operated company, we have a particular responsibility for community-based tourism and responsible tourism.

At Places Nepal, we believe that tourism should be a force for good in Nepal. We're dedicated to supporting the local community, promoting sustainable tourism practices, and preserving Nepal’s essence for future generations.

Through our project “For the Mountain Communities,” Places Nepal has partnered with Global Initiative for Future Thinkers (GIFT) to provide special classes by sponsoring a Social Worker cum Teacher in different schools in Nepal. We donate 5% of your direct booking to accommodate all the volunteer teachers. This initiative has directly benefited 113 students who are learning English, Mathematics, and Science courses as of now.

  • Environmental Conservation: As a trekking and travel company, we know the importance of preserving natural resources. Places Nepal is also aware of the environmental impact of travel.
  • Employee Welfare: We value our team above everything. Places Nepal has been practising the fair policy since we added a team. We provide fair wages in compliance with the Nepal government's Labour Act. We prioritise the health and well-being of our guides and porters, providing them with insurance and access to quality healthcare.

  • Disaster Relief: Places Nepal has been assisting as First Responders in case of any natural disasters. Our founders helped rebuild many homes of people from Dhading and Namche Bazaar during the devastating 2015 Earthquake.

Responsible Tourism

Despite our limited scope of influence, we take pride in being among the pioneering local companies that have embraced Responsible Tourism practices in Nepal. We adhere to a comprehensive set of policies designed to address our societal and environmental responsibilities. However, implementing these practices requires the collaborative efforts of travellers and local tour operators.

To minimise our carbon footprint, we have been providing EV services to our clients and discouraging the use of single-use materials. We've implemented a waste reduction program, including composting and recycling initiatives, on all our treks.
